As we navigate through the rapidly advancing world of transportation, the realm of motorcycle safety technology stands at the cusp of significant evolution. With the fusion of connectivity, automation, and innovation, the future beckons with promises of enhanced safety and an enriched riding experience. This journey into the next wave of safety enhancements promises to be both enlightening and exhilarating, perfectly balancing the thrill of the ride with the peace of mind riders seek.

The Evolution of Riding Gear

At the groundwork of motorcycle safety is the evolution of personal protective gear. Innovations in materials science are birthing gear that does not just protect but actively prevents accidents. Imagine helmets equipped with heads-up displays (HUD), offering real-time navigation, weather updates, and vital diagnostics of the motorcycle itself. Smart fabrics in jackets and suits that harden upon impact or vibrations that alert riders of impending danger are not just concepts but emerging realities.

Emergency Detection and Response Systems

Next on the safety horizon are systems designed to detect emergencies and respond accordingly. Innovations are leading to motorcycles that can autonomously call for help in the event of an accident, sending out the rider’s location and vital signs to emergency responders. Such systems could dramatically decrease response times and increase the chances of survival and quick recovery for riders.

Legal Considerations and Support

While we anticipate technological advancements to greatly improve motorcycle safety, it’s also crucial to be prepared for legal aspects related to motorcycle riding. If an accident does occur, having access to expertise from those experienced in motorcycle accident claims can be invaluable, ensuring that riders have the necessary support for navigating through legal proceedings. Awareness and preparedness in this regard can further augment a rider’s safety measures, offering peace of mind in addition to the benefits of cutting-edge technology.

Autonomous Technology and Connectivity

Imagine your motorcycle warning you about a potential collision before it happens, or adjusting its course to avoid it. Autonomous technology and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) connectivity are making this possible. Motorcycles are being equipped with sensors and connectivity technology that allow them to communicate with each other, with passenger vehicles, and even with infrastructure. This network of connected mobility could significantly reduce accidents caused by human error and environmental factors.

Advancements in Motorcycle Dynamics

The bridge between rider intention and motorcycle response is being strengthened with advancements in motorcycle dynamics. Electronic control systems, such as adaptive suspension, traction control, and anti-lock braking systems (ABS), are becoming more sophisticated. These systems are now capable of adjusting in real-time to road conditions, riding style, and imminent hazards, offering a safer and more customizable riding experience.

Training and Simulation

As technology advances, so too does the way we learn to ride. Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) offer innovative approaches to rider training, providing realistic simulations of various road conditions, traffic scenarios, and hazard recognition and avoidance. This immersive training can prepare riders more effectively for real-world riding, enhancing not just their skills but their overall safety awareness.

Integrating Green Technology

In a nod to environmental consciousness, the future of motorcycle safety also leans heavily on integrating green technology. Electric motorcycles are on the rise, offering not only a cleaner alternative to fossil fuels but also advantages in safety technology. Electronic powertrains provide smoother acceleration and braking, while also being inherently less prone to mechanical failures. This transition to electric is a win-win for both the planet and rider safety.

Enhancing Visibility and Perception

Improving a motorcycle’s visibility to others and enhancing the rider’s perception of the road are key areas where future technology will make strides. Lighting technology, such as adaptive LED headlights that adjust based on speed and lean angle, offer riders improved visibility in all conditions. Future helmet designs may incorporate night vision and thermal imaging to help riders see and be seen in low-visibility situations, reducing the risk of nighttime accidents.

Personal Health Monitoring

Another promising avenue for motorcycle safety is the integration of personal health monitoring with riding gear. Technologies that can monitor a rider’s vital signs in real-time, detecting signs of fatigue or stress, could alert riders to take a break or slow down. By incorporating these health monitoring systems directly into gear like helmets and jackets, riders can be better informed about their physical state, preventing accidents due to health-related distractions or incapacitation.

Smarter Roads and Infrastructure

Finally, the advancement in motorcycle safety isn’t limited to the motorcycles themselves or the gear that riders wear. Smarter roads and infrastructure play a pivotal role in the future of motorcycle safety. Developments in smart road technologies, such as dynamic lane markings that can change based on traffic conditions or weather, and digital signage that communicates directly with vehicles, could vastly improve the safety environment for motorcyclists. Such innovations could help in reducing common issues like lane-splitting accidents and collisions at intersections, making roads safer for everyone.

Conclusion

The road ahead for motorcycle safety technology is both exciting and promising. With each evolutionary step, riders are provided with tools and systems designed not just to protect, but to enhance their riding experience. As we look forward to a future where technology integrates seamlessly with the thrill of riding, it is clear that the most important journey is not just towards greater safety, but towards a deeper understanding and connection with our motorcycles. Here’s to riding into a safer, smarter future together.

Owning any vehicle makes people happy–whether a car or a motorcycle. Moving around in a car becomes pretty mandatory during winters or monsoons, which is 6-7 months a year. As we head towards summer, many people take out their motorcycles from the garage and wish for the wind in the face as one can ride down country roads free of smartphones and chatty passengers.

Why do people prefer motorcycles? Because it’s simple–ride down miles of freedom in the spirit of the outlaw. Riding a motorcycle brings much joy and happiness, especially for enthusiasts, but also challenges. Like your car, you must protect your motorcycle and ensure its safety. However, this is impossible with conventional security devices like brake disc locks, as criminals can bypass them in minutes.

The world is becoming tech-savvy, and now it is essential to use a tech solution to protect your motorcycle. Enter GPS trackers for motorcycles.

Motorcycle GPS Tracker

A motorcycle GPS tracker is a device that can be installed on a motorcycle to track its location and movement. And if you own a high-end or fancy motorbike, it will catch the attention of thieves. GPS tracking devices give you maximum peace of mind with the least effort–they are simple to use and easy to attach.

But a is a valuable tool beyond protection and security. Here’s why you should buy a GPS tracker if you plan to buy a motorbike for summer this year.

Real-time Location Tracking

Motorcycle GPS Tracker

You would want to know your bike’s whereabouts or if it is safe if you lent it to your friends for a couple of days. Thanks to the GPS tracker, you can track your motorcycle’s movements in real-time and monitor its location. You can come to know if your bike is going to the desired destination, which otherwise means that something might be wrong.

Additionally, get to know if it is parked or moving and be relieved that it is in safe hands. In emergencies like accidents or breakdowns, emergency responders can quickly locate the rider and provide assistance. Additionally, some GPS trackers are equipped with sensors that can detect a crash and automatically notify emergency services.

Route Planning

This is the most common use of GPS technology–road navigation. A GPS tracker can be a valuable tool for route planning for motorcyclists who love to explore new routes and take long rides. With a GPS tracker, riders can plan their routes ahead of time and share them with friends or family members. They can also use the tracker to navigate while on the road, ensuring they stay on course and don’t get lost.

Instant Alerts

While real-time location tracking can help you monitor your motorcycle’s movement, instant alerts provide an extra layer of security. With the help of the geo-fence feature, you set a digital fence around a location of your choice. For example, if you select the geo-fence around your house location, the tracker will send alerts whenever your bike enters or leaves your house.

If thieves try to steal your motorcycle from your house in the middle of the night, the tracker is a valuable tool to instantly notify you on your phone. You can immediately try to stop the thieves, or if it is stolen, you can track the location and recover it as soon as possible.

Expert thieves can easily disconnect an alarm or break against wheel chains and steal your beloved bike. But GPS tracker silently sends notifications and eliminates the need to keep an eye on your valuable assets or vehicles at all times.

Riding History Data

This feature is very useful for parents of teens who use motorcycles for their daily commute. The tracker provides information on past routes taken along with the stoppages. Using your phone or desktop, you can check the history of routes and other details or select the date if you wish to know route details of a particular day.

Besides, the tracker provides detailed reports about mileage, fuel consumption, engine health, etc. When you know valuable insights about your bike, you can plan the use of it wisely or schedule a trip accordingly. For example, if the data tells you that the engine is not performing to its best, you can postpone your journey as you might encounter a breakdown. Ultimately, this helps you to save money on unexpected repairs.

Maintenance Reminders

Besides providing data on bike health, some GPS trackers are equipped with sensors that can monitor the motorcycle’s condition and offer maintenance reminders. This can be especially useful for busy riders who forget to schedule regular maintenance. By reminding them when it’s time for an oil change or other maintenance tasks, GPS trackers can help keep motorcycles running smoothly and avoid costly repairs down the road.

Monitoring Driving Behaviour

It can be pretty thrilling to overspeed and enjoy the adrenaline rush when riding a bike. But we all know overspeeding is dangerous and is one of the leading causes of accidents. GPS trackers send instant alerts in case of overspeeding or hard braking to avoid any potential hazards. This way, you can keep your bike, as well as your family members safe.

Insurance Benefits

Some insurance companies offer discounts to motorcycle owners who install GPS trackers on their vehicles. This is because GPS trackers can reduce the risk of theft and improve safety, leading to fewer insurance claims. By installing a GPS tracker, motorcycle owners may be able to lower their insurance premiums and save money.

Wrapping Up

Overall, a motorcycle GPS tracker can be a valuable tool for riders, businesses, and families alike. With the added security and peace of mind that a GPS tracker can provide, it’s no wonder that more and more motorcycle owners are choosing to use them. Moreover, you can easily hide the tracker as long as it has access to a permanent live wire and a negative. It is worth every penny to keep your bike safe!

Even if Motorrad is BMW`s hardcore division that creates great bikes, it seems that it is in tune with the growing mobility trend and started to create exquisite all sorts of electric means of transport that would ease the way people commute in the urban areas.

One such fine example is the recently launched Motorrad Definition CE 04, which might be regarded as the perfect electric mobility in the scooter segment. Its design is mind-blowing, while its architecture sets the new trend in urban mobility.

As BMW Group recently declared in a statement, the BMW Motorrad Definition CE 04 is viewed as a link between present and future, or the analogue and digital worlds of the urban user. Speaking of unique architecture and exquisite design, Alexander Buchan, CEO at BMW Motorrad, also declared:

“We have managed to transfer many innovative elements and details of the concept into the series. The technical realities of electric drive – such as the flat energy packs in the underfloor and the compact drive train – allow us to create a highly distinctive design which defines a new, urban aesthetic and which differentiates itself clearly from conventional styling. A design that follows the basic needs for simple functionality, clear aesthetics and the digital reality today`s users live in. The new architecture has led to a visual revolution and has produced many new design themes. Maybe it will polarise, but it will definitely stand out.”

From a visual perspective, the BMW Motorrad Definition CE 04 breaks the conventional boundaries and adopts a whole new design language. We are dealing here with an elongated body that is closer to the ground than any other conventional scooters. The high-class feel is also given by the sharp edges around the surface, with a front end that rises diagonally and which creates a more muscular attitude. Underbody, the battery is flat, allowing for more storage that can be opened from the side. This means easier access to the drivers helmet or other light equipment. The battery`s size also makes the scooter more stability, enabling increased handling and driving dynamics.

However, there is more than meets the eye; besides the exquisite design, the 2020 BMW Motorrad Definition CE 04 also offers a lot of connectivity features, thus focusing on user-friendly and practical solutions for the driver. All this offers the perfect balance between comfort, safety, and the thrill of driving. Once you turn on the key, your smartphone is directly connected to the bike`s 10.25-inch display which allows you to perform different actions. This is the largest display ever built in this segment and which perfectly defines the link between analogue and digital. Speaking of performing different actions.

You can find out more about the Definition CE 04 in the press release, as well as in the media gallery displayed below!

You got that right. BMW recently announced the introduction of the M Performance Parts on some of its newest bikes.

The reason is pretty simple and quite obvious. The M goodies not only sheds off significant weight but it also improves handling and driving characteristics, and thus enhances performance.

The first lucky bike to benefit from such special treatment is the S 1000 RR sport bike, now in its third-generation. The bike comes stock with less weight than the previous generation, and the adding of M goodies would make it even more lightweight. Hence the series of advantages of the M Performance Parts.

About the introduction of the M Performance Parts on the BMW A 1000 RR, Claudio De Mortino, team leader of Vehicle Technology t BMW Motorrad, has also mentioned:

“Our fascinating brief was to take the predecessor model – which has been a dominating force in all disciplines for 10 years – and significantly improve on its performance. This we translated into straightforward targets: one second faster on the track, more than 10 kg lighter and easier to control. The result is a fascinating new motorcycle that exceeds the targets we set ourselves and will once again set the benchmark.”

To back up what De Mortino stated, we will detailed the sport bike`s performance. It uses a tuned engine which represents an 8 horsepower increase, for a maximum of 203 horsepower in Europe. In the United States, the engine develops 202 horsepower. As for lightweight characteristics, the BMW S 1000 RR with M Performance Parts now weighs 193.5 kg, which is quite an improvement from the stock 197 kg. Also, notable is the second-generation`s weight of 208 kg.

The bike`s M package brings fresh a new motorsport paintjob, along with M lightweight battery, M Chassis Kit with rear ride heights adjustment and swing-arm pivot, as well as M sport seat and M carbon fiber wheels. There is also the Pro Mode now available and which improves the bike`s handling characteristics on the track, way far advanced than the ongoing Race Mode.

You can admire the gorgeous BMW S 1000 RR with M Performance Parts in the media gallery below! Do you find it as appealing as an M-sourced sports car? Please leave your opinions in the comment section!

While BMW is busy testing out and preparing its latest models, Motorrad division is also in the works of latest superbike concepts. One of them has just been released in the media and is presumed to lead the way for a future bike in the Adventure Sport series.

Motorrad`s new concept is titled 9cento and represents “the ideal sports touring bike”, with a stylish and an extremely aerodynamic design. As the company also mentioned, the concept gives us a “look ahead to what an exciting new Adventure Sport model might look like.”

Besides the couple of details about its style, there are no any info concerning the amount of power it will come with. However, Edgar Heinrich, Head of Design at BMW Motorrad, gave us enough reasons to believe that the concept is fit to wear the carmaker`s badge, stating:

We’ve created a bike that combines the appropriate power with reliable sports touring properties and above all lots of riding fun, so it’s an attractive overall package. It brings together the best of the sports, adventure and touring segments to produce an exciting concept – in a class which has not seen this kind of model from BMW before.”

The BMW Motorrad Concept 9cento features an extremely appealing design, with plenty of new aluminum components, ’hovering’ side panels, nicely-sculpted fuel tank, as well as a windscreen which provides protection against the elements.

The new concept is also extremely practical, coming with an ”innovative storage space concept”, featuring a clip-element on the rear of the motorcycle. The bike can also be had with a rear passenger seat or storage case.

Mechanically, the Concept 9cento comes with a milled aluminum rear carrier and carbon fiber reinforced plastic frame, along with a touring-focused suspension system which provides increased comfort and a ”sense of light-footedness.”

Other significant details can be found in the official video presentation of the BMW Mottorad Concept 9cento Bike! Enjoy and don`t forget to share your opinions with us!

BMW purists who are on a hunt these days for exclusive and limited-editions, should know that BMW has recently introduced an interesting package which includes an M4 Magny-Cours Edition, an S 1000RR motorcycle and an extremely expensive mechanical wristwatch from BRM, for a total of €180,000.

Considering the value of the package, I am allowed to state that the whole price is quite a bargain. However, BMW is offering a limited-run of just ten packages for the moment.

Starting with the BMW M4 Magny-Cours Edition, the model is dedicated to the German`s carmaker partnership with the former French Grand Prix, almost ten years ago, when it raced at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours.

The model comes with the Competition Package and a racing livery. We are looking here at the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six engine with 444 horsepower.

Besides the power, the model is also had with the carbon fiber front lip spoiler and carbon fiber rear wing, adding as well the striping details down the flanks and the massive 20-inch alloy wheels.

As for the BMW S 1000RR motorcycle, this is the perfect replica of the one competing in the Superbike World Championship, coming with the same racing livery and a 999cc inline-four cylinder engine, with 200 horsepower.

On the other hand, the BRM`s mechanical wristwatch is also part of the package, this one costing alone many thousands dollars. You can find out more about the trio in the media gallery below!

I have never doubted the performance capabilities of the M4 GTS from BMW but there is no way the car could beat-up a BMW motorcycle in a drag race…not even in a million years. It is proven that motorcycles are way too fast than conventional cars, and that seems to be an impossible mission for the potent M4 GTS.

Even so, putting two BMW products altogether, no matter what they are (car or bike) it is a fun exercise to learn from each other, and the video below, provided by motoring.com.au, is just trying to do that. The video is giving us an up-close of the outstanding characteristics of both BMW products on a track test.

Even if today`s motorcycles are built to last, becoming safer and safer thanks to their plethora of safety systems and advanced mechanics, I would personally drive one during summer weekends and choose the BMW M4 GTS for some hefty throttling or driving session on the track. Even so, the thrill and the excitement you feel while being on an S1000RR bike don’t match those of the M4 GTS.

So there are plenty of advantages and disadvantages of driving an M4 GTS vs riding an outstanding BMW S1000RR. It just depends on what you want.

If you want an amazing car that literally sticks you to the seat, then take the BMW M4 GTS`s impressive performance and sprint – just 3.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h achieved thanks to a high-performance system which comprises a conventional 3.0-liter turbocharged engine with water-injection technology, for an overall 493 horsepower.

If you need a fast bike from BMW, then our suggestion would be going for the S1000RR, an exceptional two-wheel machine with quick response, stability and fast speed. You can find out more in the video below!

BMW Mottorad, the German carmaker`s special division that presently builds the most outstanding motorcycles in the world, is recently facing some factory recalls for some of its S 1000 RRs, due to faulty rear suspension bolt.

There were several reports issued on motorcyclist.com and motorcycle.com according to which BMW Mottorad had to recall to factory a small number of 21 motorcycles in the United States, due to a loose suspension bolt at the rear.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or shortly NHTSA, has also issued the report, according to which a number of 2016 BMW S 1000 RR models, and one S 1000 R, had to go back to the factory to have the faulty suspension bolt repaired.

According to carscoops.com, “one of the rear shock mounting bolts can loosen, which could affect the motorcycle`s handling. A deflection lever attached to the shock and the swingarm has a bolt that may have been improperly tightened at the factory. A loose bolt may produce a knocking sound from the suspension.”

With the first problems appearing back in December, the NHTSA have urged BMW Mottorad to recall all affected models, with BMW`s division starting the replacing procedures right away.

BMW customers worldwide not only get to enjoy the plethora of high-end models but also have the pleasure of testing out the latest concept bikes from the carmaker`s Motorrad division.

The 2016 EICMA taking place this week is gathering the latest motorcycle concepts and racers and BMW Motorrad will also be present with its most recent creation, the all-new HP-4 Race concept bike, in an effort to show the world that BMW is also attempting to build the most advanced bikes in terms of performance and manufacturing.

And indeed, what is so innovative about the all-new BMW HP-4 Race concept is that it is built entirely out of carbon fiber components. More than that, the wheels as well are made from the same materials, which sets a new benchmark in the biking segment.

And what better way to portray such an exquisite concept than releasing a short teaser video which shows everything we need about the new bike.

And even if the details are quite limited at the moment, we still could get our hands on bunch of news concerning its powertrain under the hood. We might be looking here at a 1000c inline four-cylinder engine with around 200 horsepower, adding the latest components and the right price.

Once released on the market somewhere next year, the BMW HP-4 Race will be a limited-run and will sit above the present S 1000 RR. Until further details, enjoy the teaser and the bunch of photos with the upcoming racer.
