Many car enthusiasts dream about fixing up a car and selling it on for a profit. It’s a way to spend time on your hobby, with the aim of making a little money at the end of it too. But if you have a car that isn’t in great shape, it’s realistically going to need A LOT of work to get it pristine. And the reality is that it just might not be worth doing absolutely everything. If you need to focus your efforts on a few key areas, what should you hone in on?

People used to change cars pretty frequently, opting for newer cars as soon as theirs got more than a couple of years old. But times have changed. Economic times are tough, the cost of living is crazy, and switching cars often simply isn’t viable for many. Americans are now keeping their cars for an average 12.6 years! And even when it is time to get a newer car, you want to sell your old car for as much as possible. Which means fixing it up a little to help you get as much money as possible for it. You might be a car enthusiast who looks forward to jobs like this – or you might need a little professional help! But what areas should you focus on to add the most value?

Engine Tune-Up

The engine is the most important part of the car. If the car doesn’t run, it’s not worth much! So maintaining its health is everything. You’ll need to do more than just an oil change; you’ll want to get the whole thing checked over and working as well as possible. Replacing spark plugs and air filters are usually quick wins that can lead to big improvements. It’ll make your car run smoother, and enhance fuel efficiency and longevity. You may actually find you don’t want to sell your car for a while once you get your engine working optimally. And if you do sell, potential buyers are often willing to pay a premium for a car with a documented history of regular maintenance.

Tires and Suspension System

Your car’s ability to handle the road effectively is all about its tires and suspension system. Upgrading to high-performance can improve grip, handling, and safety. Bolt on an upgraded suspension system too, and you’ll notice how driving your car brings a smoother ride, and also better control through tight corners. Ok, so performance tires do come with a higher price tag, but they absolutely will maximize your vehicle’s capabilities. Likewise, a well-tuned suspension system contributes to a better driving experience. A stiffer suspension will enhance your car’s handling. All of this is a selling point for potential buyers, who will notice the benefits of your investment when they do a test drive.

Upgrading Brakes

Safety is everyone’s number one priority when buying a car, so you absolutely must make this a selling point of your car if you want to sell it. High-performance brake pads and rotors significantly improve stopping power, which gives peace of mind to everyone. Upgrading your brakes is always a wise investment. High-quality brakes can withstand the demands of all types of driving, ensuring that you can stop quickly and safely when needed. For buyers, knowing that a car has a robust braking system is a significant selling point. And it also demonstrates that the vehicle has been well-cared for and that the owner prioritizes safety.

Aesthetics

Performance is the most important thing when you’re valuing and selling your car, but aesthetics play an important role in your car’s overall appeal. Consider things such as a fresh coat of paint, custom rims, or a sleek body kit. Any of these will make your vehicle stand out in a crowd. And when you’re selling, you want to have a lot of interest to get the price you want. If you only want to do one thing to boost your car’s aesthetics, make it a paint job. You could restore your car to its original glory, or you could choose a new color (look at the most popular car colors to choose something prospective buyers will want), a professional paint job can make a big impact. Quality matters and paint jobs are tough, so choose a reputable shop that uses high-quality materials to ensure long-lasting results.

Interior Enhancements

The inside of your car should be dressed to impress. Bad smells, shabby seats and dirty footwells are instantly off-putting to anyone. Consider swapping out worn seats for high-quality leather or performance fabrics that offer support and a plush look. Modernizing your car’s tech can also add value. Newer audio systems, GPS navigation, and Bluetooth connectivity are convenient, and actually a lot of buyers will expect these too. Prioritize upgrading the upholstery, installing a new sound system, or adding modern conveniences like a touchscreen display. These kinds of interior enhancements will elevate your driving experience and your car’s resale value.

Proper Documentation

This is something you’ll either have or won’t have if you’ve owned your car for a while. If you do, this will be a great selling point if you sell your car on. And if you don’t have proper documentation, at least get some documentation if you get any professional work done while you’re fixing it up. Keeping detailed records of all upgrades, repairs, and maintenance can significantly boost your car’s resale value. It provides transparency and builds trust with potential buyers. You could even get a reputable mechanic or dealer to do a full service on the vehicle before you sell it, which would be welcomed by potential buyers.

Knowing what buyers are looking for can make a big difference when fixing up a car. Trends in automotive technology and aesthetics influence what features are desirable and can impact resale value. Stay informed about current trends and use this knowledge to guide your upgrade decisions. Your fixer upper project could bring many rewards if you go about it in the right way!

Besides Hamann or Manhart, AC Schnitzer is another famous German tuning firm that deals with BMW customizations, both at the exterior and interior, as well as under the hood.

While some BMW models have received impressive performance packages underneath their skins, other have been customized with amazing new visual characteristics which change their looks for good. It is also the case of the second-generation BMW X4 seen below, which has been wrapped with some new cool stuffs.

What makes this particular project unique is the subtle changes, the model receiving a handful of new visual tweaks, thus not spoiling its factory look. However, for those with a sharp eye, the mods are there and discretely change its personality, making it more intimidating and imposing.

Starting with the front, the aftermarket engineers have added a two-part spoiler lip which sits right under the bumper and provides a sportier look. Moving to the rear, there is also a new set of tailpipes, sport catalysts and bespoke downpipes.

These changes also come hand-in-hand with a new suspension system, perfectly adapted to fit the new wheels, which come with a choice of 19 or 20 inches. They wear the company`s signature and come in anthracite or bi-colour finish.

The exterior is complemented inside, with the cabin also receiving some minor tweaks, some of them being announced in the article, and other on their way soon. We are dealing here with new key holders, sport pedals, as well as a new i-drive system touch controller.

AC Schnitzer has released a media gallery with the gorgeous BMW X4. You can browse it below!

German-based carmaker BMW released its latest model, the 2019 BMW i8 Roadster back in March, with deliveries already starting in the United States and recently in the United Kingdom.

Well-received and appreciated all-over the world, the company`s newest toys has also attracted tuning companies, and that`s because of its design language and advanced technology.

One prove in this regard is the extensive tuning program that famous German-based aftermarket shop AC Schnitzer has carried out on the i8 Roadster. You can see full details about it in the media gallery below.

Famous for their exclusive programs, particularly at the exterior, AC Schnitzer have added a full body kit with parts made from carbon fiber. However, under the hood, the model has not received any new modifications. This means the same 1.5 three-cylinder turbocharged engine plus an electric motor, both delivering a total of 369 horsepower. It also manages an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds, meaning a 0.2 second difference compared with the i8 Coupe. The new battery also allows for an average consumption of 70 eMPG.

As for the exterior highlights, almost every inch of the car has been modified. Starting with the wheels, which is my favourite part, the technicians from AC Schnitzer have fitted 21 inches AC1 lightweight forged bi-colour, providing at the same time a 4.4 kg decrease in weight. They make the car extremely aggressive, especially since it sits lower to the ground, thanks to the new custom lowering spring kit.

From a visual standpoint, the 2019 BMW i8 Roadster by AC Schnitzer comes with a new front spoiler, middle front spoiler, front side wings and front and rear air outlets. There is also the “Racing” rear wing for more downforce or the 160 mm emblems on the sides, and the new door handle panels.

The interior perfectly complements the exterior with floor mats covered in velour, aluminum pedals and footrest.

If you really fancy high-class and exclusively-modified BMW models, then you should definitely visit the carmaker`s most impressive dealership in the world, located in Abu Dhabi.

BMW Abu Dhabi Motors offers a real spectacle when it comes to fine customizations. With more than 200 models (classics, iconic, new) on display, the dealership has achieved world fame and is visited by more than 250,000 people every year. And if you also happen to be there these days, don’t forget to snapshot the newly added BMW M550i with the well-known body treatment courtesy of AC Schnitzer.

Even if it`s not the M5 which everybody seems to favour these days, it`s closely sitting next to it – it is the M550i xDrive – standing out from the crowd with the exotic Aventurini Red and new stylish bits from AC Schnitzer.

While the 4.4-liter biturbo V8 engine remains stock with the impressive 456 horsepower and a 3.9 second sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, the M-infused body has received a couple of new enhancements from the German dedicated BMW tuner.

The car`s main highlight is the fixed rear wing which increases its aerodynamics, providing more downforce. There is also the custom exhaust system, which is a characteristic of the tuner, along with carbon fiber accents and the new 20-inch AC Schnitzer alloy wheels.

Also, the car sits better and lower on the road, thanks to the new spring kit working in tandem with the stock adaptive M suspension system. This means that the ride height has been lowered by 25-30 mm up front and 20-25 mm at the back. This means greater stance and increased visuals.

The aero kit also comprises some subtle carbon fiber accents on the new front lip, while the rear diffuser has also been enhanced a little bit to offer that aggressive punch you may otherwise find on the hardcore M5.

The interior is not that flashy as we might have expected, however, there are a couple of new goodies that make it quite an eye-catcher. Some of the areas have been finished in black to complement the exterior, while the infotainment system for the rear seats offers plenty of high-tech gadgetries. The white accents with use of wood trim provide a high-class feel.

When it comes to heavy BMW customizations, Manhart tuner from Germany is my favourite. They recreate distinctive power upgrades, however, in the last years they have also created special aero programs for all sorts of models.

We have had the pleasure of telling you about many BMW M2s, M3s, M4s or some from the X lineup, all featuring spectacular aftermarket body parts or impressive upgrades under the hood. And I will always keep updating you about any new projects Manhart will be carrying out on a BMW model.

Today we have the opportunity of telling you about the below BMW M4, the gorgeous M4 with good looks and extraordinary performance, which has received a new power module and a couple of new mechanical stuffs.

The whole project is called MH4 550 and comprises some new ‘’toys’’ which make the model more powerful. We are dealing here with a carbon fiber intake system in-house built by Eventuri tuner, and which increases the engine soundtrack and adds more power. With the new exhaust in one place, the tuner also added new cat-less downpipes which help the gas to exit into the Manhart muffler system with a custom piping. And there is of course, the new ECU remapping, also helpful in boosting the power.

Speaking of power, the BMW M4 by Manhart is equipped with the famous S55 3.0-liter twin-turbo in-line six-cylinder engine, developing 331 kW and 550 Nm of torque. However, with the new systems installed, this lad here is capable of 405 kW and a staggering 820 Nm of torque. Performance figures haven’t been provided, but given the standard 4.3 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, we expect this lad manage at least 3.9 seconds.

Other technicalities refer to KW Variant 3 coil-overs and new high-performance wheels with wide tires, all increasing the car`s stance and stability. At the exterior, the model is tweaked with M Performance Parts, all made from carbon fiber. The most important ones refer to M Performance front spoiler, M Performance rear diffuser and new bonnet with GTR vents.

As for interior adjustments, the technicians from Manhart have fitted a red roll cage and Recaro bucket seats, while the rear seats have been removed to make the car lighter. There is also the M Performance Alcantara on the steering wheel and black Alcantara seats for a more luxurious feel.

Built from 2007 to 2013, the gorgeous and iconic E92 M3 has earned the hearts of every BMW purist, due to its incredibly aerodynamic design, exquisite performance under the hood and an overall outstanding personality.

Considered a true symbol of the German engineering, the E92 BMW M3 is still a very sought after model, especially in the aftermarket segment. And it is not a mistery why it has grown in value for the last couple of years.

Plenty of tuning firms have worked their magic on the E92 BMW M3, but right now it`s time we saw another one in action. This time it is the well-known EAS tuner to recreate the astonishing model with a new set of Vossen wheels and some other aftermarket aero parts that makes it quite a show-offer.

First off, the E92 M3 in question is wearing the unmistakable Alpine White exterior paintjob which perfectly suit the Vossen wheels. A couple of visual enhancements have also carried out at the front and rear end, as well as on the sides.

However, “la piece de resistance” of the model in question is the new set of wheels. We are dealing here with Vossen VWS-3 wheels, with the discs finished in Matte Silver, along with polished lips and five-spoke configuration. The wheels are massive, measuring 20 x 8.5 and 20 x 10.5 front and rear, respectively.

Also, from what I`ve heard, the model can also come optional with other choices from the same Vossen Wheels tuner. This means that you can customized your own E92 M3 with a wide variety of design and configurations like Stepped Lip, Flat Lip, or Stepped Lip with Overlapping Spokes. Each one increases the car`s aggressive look and provide better grip and stance.

Speaking about performance, the E92 BMW M3 came out from the factory with an impressive 4.0-liter V8 engine, outputting 414 horsepower and delivering a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds. This is pretty close to today`s M3, with the same result when fitted with the M-Dual Clutch transmission.

The F82 BMW M4 is a magnificent piece of German engineering, coming with advanced aerodynamics, cool interior tweaks and plenty of performance under the hood. However, the car`s structure and design allows for in-depth customizations.

This is why, in the hands of aftermarket specialists, the M4 can be crafted in many ways and transformed into a unique car. And with the passing of time, this particular model will finally gain the success it deserves, just like the 1M, which is still a highly-sought model.

For this F82 BMW M4 in question, the owner wanted to enhance it with a carbon fiber package, new wheels and a couple of new inserts inside the cabin. Unfortunately, there weren’t any mods added under the hood, which is a clear indication that it holds just about enough power to withstand other hot rides in the segment.

Performance wise, the F82 BMW M4 packs the same 3.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo flat-six, also seen on its little sibling the M3 Sedan. The engine outputs 431 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, sending the power to the rear via a six-speed manual. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is also done in 4.1 seconds, but when hooked with the seven-speed M-DCT transmission, the model runs the same sprint in just 3.9 seconds. The topping is electronically limited at 250 km/h.

As for the wheels it comes with, it involves the Vossen Hybrid Forged VFS-5 rims which measure 20 x 8.5 and 20 x 10.5 front and rear, respectively. Wrapped in Gloss Gunmetal finish, they look impressive in Michelin Pilot Sport + tires.

The new wheels come handy with the Alpine White exterior wrap and carbon fiber package, which consists of new front lip spoiler, rear diffuser or rear deck-lid spoiler, all courtesy of German tuning firm AC Schnitzer.

Further details are provided in the media gallery below. Enjoy!

While the German based carmaker is just a couple of months from putting the current M3 to sleep, the M4 is getting plenty of appreciation in the tuning segment, receiving programs after programs. With the M3 gone, the coupe sibling will become one of the most iconic aftermarket builds.

The model seen in the media gallery below has received new body parts from Florida-based tuning firm Euro Stable. It wraps the gorgeous Black Sapphire Metallic body wrap and wears the high-performance lightweight set of wheels from ADV.1 Wheels tuner.

The said part is that there weren’t any mods carried out under the hood, even if it features a custom-built exhaust system. This means the 3.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo flat-six, also seen on its little sibling the M3 Sedan. The engine outputs 431 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, sending the power to the rear via a six-speed manual. The topping is electronically limited at 250 km/h.

As for the carbon aero parts, the technicians from Euro Stable have added carbon fiber lip spoiler, carbon rear diffuser with carbon fiber rear deck-lid spoiler.

As for the wheels, they are specifically designed for the track and refer to ADV.1 Advanced Series wheels with an exquisite design featuring the Advanced Window Pocketing queues on each spoke, enhancing the car`s aggressive looks.

The wheels also provide increased grip and better stance, thanks to their massive size – 20 x 9.5 and 20 x 11.5 front and rear, respectively, and finished as well in Brushed Aluminum with Gloss Clear for the wheel face, and Polished Aluminum with Gloss Clear for the lips.

Euro Stable tuner has also released an impressive media gallery with their latest build on Black Sapphire Metallic F82 BMW M4!

More and more tuning firm resort to BMW customizations and most of them are found on the company`s famous M2/M3/M4, or the X5/X6 with their much more impressive hardcore M variants.

In recent period, we have witnessed a wide range of modifications on the BMW`s most imposing BMW X5 M / X6 M. Even if they come from the factory with M Performance Parts, there is still plenty of room for mods at the body style.

Excepting dedicated tuners like Mansory, Hamann, Manhart, Lumma Design and so forth, there are also tuners that apply their body kits on the aforementioned SUVs. The last to come up with an extensive package is Z-Performance and involves the below blacked out X5 M.

The owner comes from Romania, Neamt county and wanted to transform its X5 M into something special and unique. And it did so by resorting to Z-Performance aftermarket shop, which is also a BMW-dedicated tuner; at least in the recent years.

As we can depict from the photos below, the BMW X5 M by Z-Performance comes with a cool black wrap with some cool and standout wheels from Z-Performance. It involves the fitting of 22-inch rims, measuring 10.5- and 12.0-inch, in and out respectively, and are finished in matte black in the center. To go with the wheels is the new set of coil-over suspension system which brings our X5 M closer to the ground, providing thus increased stance.

Still at the exterior, the model in question also looks eye-catching with the new dark tint applied on the window, reflectors and lamps, which complement the car`s body wrap as well. There is also the carbon fiber front spoiler, rear diffuser and especially the bespoke exhaust system with carbon fiber tips; the latter announces a power boost and a wilder engine soundtrack, which is around 750 horsepower, according to the tuner.

In the stock form, the X5 M comes with a 4.4-liter V8 TwinPower Turbo mill with 575 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, allowing an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.0 seconds, at a topping of 250 km/h.

Germany`s one of the finest tuners, AC Schnizer, also a dedicated BMW aftermarket shop, has created exquisite tuning programs for many models like – X5/X6, M2 as well as M3/M4 – all standing out from the crowd with enhanced looks and increased performance under the hood.

The latest program has been created on the BMW M4 Convertible and involves plenty of M Performance Parts, plus some new enhancements inside the cabin. This particular M4 Convertible is displayed at BMW `s most prestigious dealership located in Abu Dhabi and is wearing an extremely appealing and exotic yellow body wrap.

The BMW M4 Convertible comes with a full body kit, consisting of bespoke rear wing and exhaust system, adding as well a custom-made hood and side skirts.

There are also M Performance Parts and spoke inserts on the wheels painted in yellow, thus complementing the car`s body wrap. Inside, the cabin features black and yellow accents.

In the engine department, this BMW M4 Convertible by AC Schnitzer tuner packs the same 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine, churning out 425 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The top speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h.

The BMW M4 Convertible allows a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds if hooked with a six-speed manual transmission; with the dual-clutch transmission the same sprint is done in just 4.3 seconds.

You can admire the gorgeous BMW M4 Convertible by AC Schnitzer in the media gallery below. Do you fancy the yellow body wrap? What about the adding of the M Performance Parts – does they make it more aggressive than the stock form? Please don’t forget to share your opinions with us!
